SWIM, PADDLE AND HIKE – ADVENTURE BEGINS AT THE END OF YOUR COMFORT ZONE!

Adventure Swims offers a unique opportunity for 24 persons to swim/ paddle the 8.5km length of the pristine Kleinemonde West River from its mouth to its furthest navigable point. Following this there is a 4.5km game walk to the rustic yet stunning, Lilypad Lodge situated in the heart of the Nyala Game Reserve. After overnighting at the lodge you do the reverse the next day.

The Kleinemonde West River has been closed to the sea for some years. The swim is non tidal and aside from a variety of fish there are no dangerous predators. The eco system is diverse with a rich variety of birds and wildlife. On the game walk you can expect to see Giraffe, Zebra, Bushbuck, Nyala and various other species of game and wildlife.
Accommodation at Lilypad Lodge is in two large dormitory style cabins with bunk beds. A male and a Female cabin. There is water but no electricity at the lodge. Showers are private and outdoors and toilets are non-flush.
Meals are self-catered. Braai grids, a gas stove, kettle, braai tongs, braai wood, cutlery and crockery, jaffle irons, braai spices, toilet paper, tea, coffee, milk and rusks are provided. Breakfast will also be provided before the return departure on Sunday.
Swimmers/paddlers will be paired, two people per canoe. A guide/safety padder will lead the excursion and a motorised safety boat will sweep behind. Gardmed will be on standby.
All kit, food, sleeping bags etc will be transported to Lillypad Lodge and will be there when you arrive. It will again be collected on Sunday morning and transported back to the river mouth.
What to bring on the canoe:
- Dry bag containing your walking gear
- A swim buoy
- Hydration and sustenance for the Paddle, Swim & Hike

For transportation to the lodge:

We provide snacks on arrival, a vegetable potjie pot to share and rooster koek and coffee for breakfast in the morning.
